Repairing Your Chimney Nondestructively
HeatShield® is a specially formulated “Cerfractory®” material that restores the integrity of your chimney’s flue to vent hazardous flue gases from your home. This method of repair has been used in Europe for over 20 years and is gaining popularity in the United States because the repairs can be done without removing the terra cotta clay tiles that currently line your flue. Relining your fireplace flue with stainless steel requires the removal of the existing terra cotta clay tiles, and this is a destructive process. Your chimney was not designed to be taken apart and then reconstructed, although at times it is necessary. If given the choice however, more homeowners are choosing Heat Shield to repair their flue; it takes half the time and does not impact the chimney structure by the tile removal process.
